EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., 10 May 2011. ACS Motion Control in Eden Prairie, Minn., is introducing digital I/O modules with EtherCAT interfaces for systems integrators who are adding scalable digital I/O to an EtherCAT control network. The SPiiPlus IOMnt EtherCAT digital I/O modules has as many as 32 inputs and 32 outputs, and have low power dissipation.The SPiiPlus IOMnt inputs meet EN 61131-2, type 3 (24-volt source type) and are function- and pin compatible with Beckhoff EL1862/1872. The outputs are 24 volts and 0.5 amps each, source type, protected, and are also function- and pin-compatible with Beckhoff EL2872.One IOMnt-32-32 can replace two units of EL1872, two units of EL2872 and the EK1100 Ethercat bus coupler, company officials say. Optional breakout screw terminal kits are available.
The SPiiPlus IOMnt EtherCAT digital I/O modules have 20-pin connectors -- one per 16 channels plus power connections -- and securely mate plug connectors using insulation-displacement contacts like ribbon cables. A 64-LED display shows the logical states of the inputs and outputs.
