Defense Logistics Agency issues SMD drawings for rad-hard power electronics from VPT

BLACKSBURG, Va., 8 Jan 2012. The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) at Fort Belvoir, Va., is issuing Standard Microcircuit Drawings (SMDs) for more than 150 space-grade, radiation-hardened DC-DC power converter modules from power electronics specialist VPT Inc. in Blacksburg, Va. VPT’s rad-hard SV series DC-DC converters are manufactured to MIL-PRF-38534 Class K for space environments. These products are for space applications including low Earth orbit (LEO) systems, geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO) systems, deep space probes, and other demanding applications.

VPT’s rad-hard SV series DC-DC converters are manufactured to MIL-PRF-38534 Class K for space environments. These products are for space applications including low Earth orbit (LEO) systems, geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO) systems, deep space probes, and other demanding applications.

The specific space grade SV series DC-DC converters now availableon DLA SMDs include:

-- SMD# 5962-11219: 6-Watt SVSA single output modules of 3.3, 5, 12, and 15 volts;
-- SMD# 5962-11216: 6-Watt SVSA dual output modules of ±5, ±12, ±15 volts;
-- SMD# 5962-11218: 20-Watt SVHF single output modules of 3.3, 5, 12, and 15 volts;
-- SMD# 5962-11215: 20-Watt SVHF dual output modules of ±5, ±12, and ±15 volts;
-- SMD# 5962-11220: 40-Watt SVTR single output modules of 3.3, 5, 12, and 15 volts;
-- SMD# 5962-11223: 40-Watt SVTR dual output modules of ±5, ±12, and ±15 volts;
-- SMD# 5962-11217: 120-Watt SVFL single output modules of 3.3, 5, 12, and 15 volts; and
-- SMD# 5962-11214: 120-Watt SVFL dual output modules of ±5, ±12, and ±15 volts.

The VPT space grade products on the new SMDs are guaranteed rad hard per VPT’s Radiation Hardness Assuredness (RHA) plan, which is registered and approved by the DLA. A key component of VPT’s RHA plan is the testing of products for enhanced low-dose radiation sensitivity (ELDRS).
