Knowles adds 105-degree C capacitors to Cornell Dubilier CLS Flatpack series

The new capacitors provide 10,000 hours of endurance at 105 degrees C, according to the company.

ITASCA, Ill. - Knowles Corp. has added 105-degree Celsius aluminum electrolytic capacitors to its Cornell Dubilier CLS Flatpack series for compact, high-density power supplies that do not require 125-degree C temperature ratings.

The new capacitors provide 10,000 hours of endurance at 105 degrees C, according to the company. They complement the existing MLPS series, rated for 85 degrees C, and MLSG series, rated for 125 degrees C.

The CLS series uses stainless-steel cases and is designed for applications requiring high capacitance in a low-profile package, including military electronics, radar systems, and aircraft power supplies. The capacitors are available with voltage ratings up to 300 volts and capacitance values up to 170,000 microfarads. The company also cites resistance to vibration, shock, and high ripple currents.

The flatpack design consolidates bulk capacitance in a compact unit, potentially reducing the number of printed-circuit-board connection points in power-supply designs.
