MILPITAS, Calif. – Renesas Electronics America Inc. in Milpitas, Calif., is introducing the 8V97003 millimeter wave synthesizer for 5G and broadband wireless communications applications.

The 8V97003 device functions as a local oscillator for millimeter wave and beamforming, or a precision reference clock for a high-speed data converter in applications like test and measurements, optical networking, and data acquisition.

The 8V97003 communications integrated circuit combines a frequency range of 171.875 MHz to 18 GHz, output noise of -60.6dBc at 20 kHz to 100 MHz at 6 GHz, and high output power over its frequency range.

Its frequency range enables engineers to use one 8V97003 in place of several synthesizer modules to reduce size and cost. High output power eliminates the need for external driver.

Low output phase noise makes it suitable for 5G and other wireless applications. As a reference clock for high-speed data converters, the 8V97003 improves signal-to-noise ratio and spurious-free-dynamic-range.
