NEW YORK CITY, 17 Nov. 2005. EDO Corp. has been selected by L-3 Communications Integrated Systems to provide its ALR-95 tactical radar Electronic Support Measures (ESM) and surveillance system for eight P-3 aircraft being procured by the Republic of Korea Navy.
The ALR-95 is a state-of-the-art maritime-patrol ESM system that enhances the aircraft's survivability by detecting, identifying, and locating hostile radar signals early and efficiently. With this information, the aircrew is able to react to the threat.
The contract is valued at more than $10 million with deliveries beginning in early 2007.
The P-3, first put into service in the early 1960s, continues to be the primary maritime patrol aircraft not only for the U.S. Navy but also for many international armed forces. The ALR-95 is currently operational on U.S. Navy P-3 Anti-submarine Improvement Program, or AIP, aircraft.
