Boeing set to build another 22 Super Hornet radar systems

ST. LOUIS, 27 June 2005. The Boeing Co. in St. Louis received the go-ahead Friday to build another 22 advanced radar systems for the U.S. Navy F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet jet fighter-bomber.

ST. LOUIS, 27 June 2005. The Boeing Co. in St. Louis received the go-ahead Friday to build another 22 advanced radar systems for the U.S. Navy F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet jet fighter-bomber.

Boeing is working under terms of a $102.4 million contract modification from the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md. The contract number is N00010-03-C-0054.

Boeing engineers will build 22 AN/APG-79 active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar systems under low-rate-initial-production III for the Super Hornet. Boeing will do work on the radar systems at its facilities in El Segundo, Calif.; St. Louis; and Marion, Va.

Work is to be finished in December 2007.
