Raytheon eyes advanced air-to-ground radar research

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 29 June. Radar scientists at Raytheon Co. in El Segundo, Calif., are investigating new target-recognition radar for high-resolution applications.

Raytheon is starting an advanced demonstration program that is part of the Air Force Air-Ground Radar Imaging (AGRI) program, under terms of a $5.5 million contract awarded June 28 from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Work is to be finished by February 2009. The contract number is FA8650-04-G-0002, 0004.

The objective of AGRI is to develop and demonstrate non-cooperative target recognition combat identification capabilities using advanced RF-only automatic target recognition and identification techniques applicable to advanced, high-resolution radar systems.
