Harris Corp. gains $19.9 million U.S. Army order for Falcon II high-frequency radio systems for MRAP vehicles

MELBOURNE, Fla., 10 May 2011. Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, won a $19.9 million order from the U.S. Army for Falcon II AN/VRC-104(V)(3) radio systems. The Falcon II systems provide high-frequency communications in multiple variants of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles (MRAPs).

MELBOURNE, Fla., 10 May 2011. Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, won a $19.9 million order from the U.S. Army for Falcon II AN/VRC-104(V)(3) radio systems. The Falcon II systems provide high-frequency communications in multiple variants of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles (MRAPs).

The AN/VRC-104 integrated communications system includes the Falcon II AN/PRC-150(C) high-frequency tactical radio. The AN/PRC-150(C) delivers beyond line-of-sight Type-1 terrestrial communications and provides continuous coverage in the 1.6- to 60-MHz frequency range, at 150 watts of power in vehicular configurations. The system's beyond-line-of-site coverage enables forces to stay connected to mission-critical information when line-of-sight communication is not an option, says a representative.
