FREMONT, Calif., 18 May 2008. dB Control won a contract from a major defense contractor to provide coupled-cavity Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) amplifiers to be used for radar applications. The initial $1.1 million award for high-power (70kW to 100kW) fully integrated C-Band TWT amplifiers has the potential to reach another $4 to $5 million over the next year.

The contract was awarded based on the ability of dB Control's coupled-cavity TWT amplifiers to deliver extremely high power over the selected radar band.

In addition to high power, the amplifiers also provide improved performance due to very low phase noise and spurious. Compact, and designed for both ground mobile and shipborne applications, the TWTAs are available in a variety of radar bands.

"The defense contractors tell us we won these contracts based on our TWT amplifiers' superior design, our reputation for reliable products, and our ability to manufacture in high-volume," says vice president Meppalli Shandas.
