NORWOOD, Mass., 20 Aug. 2010. Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) in Norwood, Mass., is introducing 12-bit and 10-bit RF mixed-signal IC devices for wireless infrastructure and portable radio equipment that are intended to reduce power and board space. The 12-bit AD9963 and 10-bit AD9961 mixed-signal RF front-end devices (MxFEs) are for cost-sensitive wireless equipment, such as femtocell and picocell base stations that require integrated dual transmit-and-receive functions.

(ADI) in Norwood, Mass., is introducing 12-bit and 10-bit RF mixed-signal IC devices for wireless infrastructure and portable radio equipment that are intended to reduce power and board space. The 12-bit AD9963 and 10-bit AD9961 mixed-signal RF front-ends (MxFEs) are for cost-sensitive wireless equipment, such as femtocell and picocell base stations that require integrated dual transmit-and-receive functions.

The devices integrate two A/D converter channels with sample rates to 100 megasamples per second and two D/A converter channels with sample rates to 170 megasamples per second. Also integrated onto the devices are digital interfaces with flexible clocking options.

These devices have five auxiliary analog channels consisting of two 12-bit D/A converters, two 10-bit D/A converters and a 12-bit A/D converter, which may be used to measure and monitor several internal and external points.

The transmit path is configurable for 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x interpolation, and the receive path includes a by-passable 2x decimating low-pass filter. The AD9963 also integrates auxiliary low dropout voltage regulators that enable the device to be powered from one supply.
