Questions and answers:

  • What is the Filtronic Prometheus designed for? For long-range V-band satellite uplinks and future RF and microwave applications.
  • What technology does Prometheus use to achieve high power and frequency performance? It uses gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technology combined with Filtronic's Cerus 32 solid-state power amplifiers.
  • What are key performance features of Prometheus? It operates from 47.2 to 52.4 GHz with 5.2 GHz bandwidth, offers 70 decibels typical gain, and delivers as much as 57 decibel-milliwatts of saturated output power.

SEDGEFIELD, England – Filtronic plc in Sedgefield, England, is introducing the Prometheus V-band high-frequency amplifier system for mission-critical satellite uplinks and future RF and microwave applications.

Prometheus delivers high-power and high-frequency performance with scalability and reliability. It is designed for long-range V-Band communications, particularly for ground station satellite uplinks.

It combines gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technology with Filtronic's Cerus 32 solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs), offering scalable deployment for different high-frequency applications.

5.2 GHz bandwidth

Operating in the 47.2-to-52.4-GHz RF and microwave range, Prometheus supports 5.2 GHz bandwidth and delivers typical saturated output power to 57 decibel-milliwatts. It offers a typical gain of 70 decibels and 63 decibel-milliwatts OIP3 at 50 decibel-milliwatts output linearity.

Prometheus eliminates the need for harmonic filters, reducing complexity and enhancing reliability over time. Control and monitoring also are available via Ethernet or serial interfaces, with SNMP V3 ensuring secure network integration.

Other features include temperature-compensated gain, automatic bias compensation, and input/output protection. For more information contact Filtronic online at www.filtronic.com.
