STS will handle updates and modifications to F-16 and F-5 APG-66, APG-68, and APG-83 airborne radar systems; moving maps; pods; and weapons.

PATUXENT RIVER NAS, Md. – U.S. Navy military aviation experts needed avionics updates and modifications on a wide variety of U.S. combat aircraft. They found a solution from STS Systems Defense LLC in San Antonio.

Officials of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., announced a $58.8 million contract to STS in late April for avionics updates and modifications to the F-16 and F-5 on-aircraft systems.

The company will handle updates and modifications to F-16 and F-5 APG-66, APG-68, and APG-83 airborne radar systems; mission planning and data transfer equipment; moving maps; targeting systems; pods; weapons; electronic warfare (EW); communications; instruments; data links; radar detection and warning systems; displays; and global positioning system (GPS) navigation systems.
