MAGR-2K-M military-grade airborne GPS receiver provides secure anti-jam navigation for military aircraft with anti-jam and anti-spoofing capabilities.

Summary points:

  • RTX Raytheon will produce and sustain MAGR-2K and MAGR-2K-M GPS receivers under a U.S. Air Force contract extending through 2031.
  • MAGR-2K/MAGR-2K-M systems offer secure, anti-jam, anti-spoofing navigation with M-Code support for use on more than 20 aircraft types.
  • Open-architecture, dual-frequency receivers integrate with other systems, supporting legacy compatibility and rapid upgrades.

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – RTX Corp. will build and sustain secure resilient military satellite navigation systems under terms of a $77.2 million U.S. Air Force contract announced earlier this month.

Officials of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Robins Air Force Base, Ga., is asking the RTX Raytheon segment in El Segundo, Calif., for Miniaturized Airborne Global Positioning System Receiver (MAGR) production and sustainment. The contract involves MAGR-2K and MAGR-2K-M GPS receivers.

The MAGR-2K (Miniaturized Airborne Global Positioning System Receiver 2000) military satellite navigation enhances GPS acquisition, provides all-in-view satellite tracking, and includes secure anti-jam and anti-spoofing technologies to protect navigation in contested environments.

Military M-Code

The device supports military GPS features like M-Code, which further improves security and resistance to interference. It is deployed across about 20 different fixed-wing aircraft, tiltrotors, and helicopters like the F/A-18 jet fighter-bomber, the B-2 stealth strategic bomber, the MV-22 and CV-22 tiltrotor aircraft, and the MH-53E heavy-lift helicopter.

MAGR-2K provides positioning, velocity, and time for navigation and weapons delivery. It offers an open-systems architecture and modular design for quick upgrades and technology insertion for avionics and weapons. More than 3,000 units are in use by the U.S. military and its allies.

It operates on dual frequencies with selective availability anti-spoofing module (SAASM) precise positioning service for jamming and anti-spoof protection. The system can function by itself or integrate with inertial navigation systems and Doppler systems.

Tell me more about MAGR-2K and MAGR-2K-M GPS receivers.

  • The MAGR-2K and MAGR-2K-M are military-grade GPS receivers for positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) for defense systems. The Miniature Airborne GPS Receiver 2000 (MAGR-2K) provides GPS position, velocity, and timing for military aircraft, ships, and ground vehicles. The Modernized MAGR-2K (MAGR-2K-M) supports M-code, the next-generation secure military GPS signal designed to improve anti-jamming and anti-spoofing, and offers increased processing power and more secure architectures.

The MAGR-2K-M military-grade airborne GPS receiver provides secure anti-jam navigation for military aircraft. This next-generation receiver offers anti-jam and anti-spoofing capabilities, as well as M-Code capability for improved security.

MAGR-2K-M is backward-compatible with legacy GPS receivers aboard fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, and is restricted to military and government use.

On this contract RTX Raytheon will do the work in El Segundo, Calif.,; and Huntsville, Alabama, and should be finished by June 2031. For more information contact RTX Raytheon online at www.rtx.com/raytheon, or the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center-Robins at www.robins.af.mil/Units/AFLCMC.
