TDK launches edge AI sensor node with multimodal sensing
SAN JOSE, Calif. - TDK Corp. has introduced the SensEI edgeRX Pro sensor node for predictive maintenance applications, combining vibration, acoustic, magnetic, temperature, and rotational-motion sensing with edge AI processing.
The compact, IP67-rated sensor node integrates a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), magnetometer, and digital microphone to provide multimodal condition monitoring. The device adds higher sampling frequencies and on-device analytics to the edgeRX platform, enabling local processing of sensor data for detection of subtle equipment anomalies.
The edgeRX Pro supports battery operation as well as USB wired power, with USB power prioritized when connected. TDK says wired operation enables higher sampling rates and more robust AI models, while battery operation provides up to 10 years of service life for long-term monitoring deployments.
The sensor supports analysis of vibration, acoustic, magnetic, temperature, and rotational data for applications including bearing and rotational anomaly detection, alignment analysis, acoustic anomaly detection, and leak detection. TDK also cites compressed-air, oil and gas, and rail-component monitoring among potential applications.
