Israeli Mini Harpy loitering airborne weapon combines technologies from UAVs and smart munitions
The Military & Aerospace Electronics take:
26 Feb. 2019 -- The Mini Harpy combines the capabilities of IAI's two flagship loitering missiles -- the Harop and the Harpy -- to blend electro-optical and RF and microwave sensors.
The Mini Harpy can neutralize RF transmitters like radar; uses electro-optical sensors to capture threats on video; and can launch from land sites, from helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, and surface warships.
The smart munitions can loiter, lock on to targets, and destroys targets by crashing into with the Mini Harpy's 18-pound explosive warhead. Electrically powered, it has a range of about 62 miles.
