Navy orders UAV avionics and ground-station electronics

HUNT VALLEY, Md., 30 Aug. 2005. Pioneer Unmanned Air Vehicle Inc. in Hunt Valley, Md., is building unmanned air vehicle (UAV) electronic systems for the U.S. Navy.

HUNT VALLEY, Md., 30 Aug. 2005. Pioneer Unmanned Air Vehicle Inc. in Hunt Valley, Md., is building unmanned air vehicle (UAV) electronic systems for the U.S. Navy.

Pioneer is manufacturing two replacement ground-control stations, 12 modular avionics integrated systems, two ground data terminals, and eight airborne data terminals for the Pioneer UAV.

Navy personnel launch and recover the Pioneer from surface warships for a variety of land and maritime surveillance applications.

Pioneer is doing the work under terms of a $6.9 million contract awarded Aug. 29 from the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md. The contract number is N00019-04-G-0011.

Work will be in Hunt Valley, Md., Holon, Israel, and Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., and will be finished in July 2007. For more information contact Pioneer Unmanned Air Vehicle online at www.puav.com.
