Autonomous Underwater Vehicle competition finals to be webcast today

SAN DIEGO, 3 August 2008.Officials from the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International are webcasting the finals of the organization's International Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Competition Finals from 1 to 4 p.m. Pacific time today, 3 Aug. tomorrow afternoon – 3 August 2008 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm PST.

AUVSI officials say more than 200 students from 25 schools are participating in this year's competition. Each team was challenged to design and build an AUV capable of navigating realistic underwater missions.

Competing teams include: Amador Valley High School Robotics Club; Arise, University of Ottawa; AUVic, University of Victoria; Cornell University; Delhi College of Engineering; Florida Atlantic University; Georgia Tech Marine Robotics Group; Kyushu Institute of Technolog; North Carolina State University; Norwich University; San Diego City Robotics; San Diego iBotics AUV; Sonia, École de Technologie Supérieure; Southern Methodist University; Southern Polytechnic State University; United States Naval Academy; Université Laval; University of Alberta ARVP; University of Colorado at Boulder; University of Florida; University of Maryland; University of Southern California Robotics; University of Texas at Dallas; University of West Florida; and University of Wisconsin.
