Summary

As defense systems increasingly adopt the Modular Open Standards Approach (MOSA), engineers and program managers seek deeper understanding of configurable implementations. This webinar demonstrates how applying the SOSA standard enables true configurability by aligning hardware and software elements into defense-specific vertical solutions, reinforcing the plug-and-play interoperability fundamental to MOSA principles.

The session opens with a MOSA overview across key defense verticals, providing a foundation for understanding tailored configurations. The presenters will highlight distinct integration examples, each showcasing how standardized COTS components address specific mission requirements while maintaining plug-and-play compatibility.

Attendees will learn:

  • Implementation strategies tailored to Radar, EW, and EO/IR applications
  • Vertical-specific design approaches: from slot profiles and hardware selection to operating systems and software stacks
  • Technical evaluation methods for selecting optimal hardware/software combinations
  • Programmatic strategies that maximize plug-and-play interoperability while meeting mission-specific objectives

Through detailed vertical examples, participants will gain practical insights into building mission-optimized solutions by combining COTS hardware and software elements, enabling rapid reconfiguration across a range of defense applications.
