CONCORD, Calif. – Power electronic expert Calex Mfg. Co. Inc. in Concord Calif., is announcing UL certification for the company's rugged 500-Watt MXW and 360-Watt MTW series DC-DC converterhalf-brickpower supplies.

The MXW and MTW series are recognized by Underwriters Laboratory as meeting the requirements of UL 60950-1. The MXW and MTW feature a 9-to-36-volt DC input range accommodating a variety of power sources from 12 to 24 volts, and 28 volts nominal.

Output voltages available for these series are 12, 15, 24 and 28 volts DC. All models are isolated input to output.

Each series offers efficiency to 95.7 percent, and high power density from synchronous rectification, advanced circuit, packaging ,and thermal design. Both series operate at a fixed frequency and follow conservative derating guidelines.

The MXW and MTW DC-DC series devices measure 2.4 by 2.5 by 0.52 inches, and feature ON/OFF, with a low idle current of 2 milliamps as well as Trim. The Trim range is plus-or-minus 10 percent. The switching frequency of both DC-DC series is 200 kHz. Output voltage set-point accuracy is plus-or-minus 1.5 percent.

Turn-on overshoot is 0. The temperature coefficient for both series is 0.015 percent per degree Celsius typical. Output noise is 1 percent of voltage output peak to peak.

All models operate down to a no load condition. Line and load regulation is 0.15 percent max. Input to output isolation is 2250 volts DC. The mean time between failures for the MXW and MTW is 5.4 million hours.

All models feature thermal shutdown, over voltage, over-current, and short circuit protection, all with auto-restart. All models also feature a monotonic startup into pre biased loads. All models are RoHS compliant and designed and manufactured in the U.S.
