Backplanes typically are designed to support at least PCI Express Gen3 speeds, with options that accommodate VITA 66 (for optical) or VITA 67 (for RF).

WATERLOO, Ontario – Pixus Technologies in Waterloo, Ontario, is introducing OpenVPX embedded computing backplanes designed for horizontal-mount enclosures for military and commercial applications.

The horizontal-mount backplanes fit into 1U-to-4U tall 19-inch rackmount OpenVPX enclosures. They provide enough space to have three 3U slots or one 3U and one 6U slot side-by-side. A wide range of configurations and size options are available.

The backplanes typically are designed to support at least PCI Express Gen3 speeds, but higher-speed options are available. Versions that accommodate VITA 66 (for optical) or VITA 67 (for RF) through the backplane.

Backplanes that comply with Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) requirements also are optional. Pixus offers OpenVPX backplane/chassis systems in commercial, development, and MIL rugged formats. The company also provides IEEE and Eurocard components for embedded computing applications.
