WATERLOO, Ontario – Pixus Technologies in Waterloo, Ontario, is introducing the 2U EUR19VPX OpenVPX embedded computing chassis that enables designers to mount boards horizontally to save rack height in relatively small systems.

The horizontal-mount enclosure is for dual 6U boards, quad 3U boards, or a hybrid mix in the chassis in small-slot-count systems. Thermal management and electronics cooling come from front-to-rear air flow.

Designers load boards from the front, yet options are available for rear loading. Versions in 1U, 3U, and 4U heights are on the roadmap.

The chassis has an OpenVPX backplane at PCI Express Gen3 speeds. Higher-speed versions and VITA 66/67 connector options are available. The chassis accommodates either pluggable VITA 62 power supply or a fixed modular VPX power supply.

Specialty card guides that accept conduction-cooled modules can be incorporated into the enclosure. Pixus also offers OpenVPX chassis in rugged rackmount, ATR, test-and-development, HOST and SOSA, and high CFM RiCool versions.

The company supports additional backplane and chassis architectures, including MicroTCA, AdvancedTCA, CompactPCI Serial, and legacy VME/CompactPCI.
