DynCorp International supports final flight of NASA Space Shuttle Endeavour
FALLS CHURCH, Va., 27 Sept. 2012. DynCorp International provided aircraft maintenance support to NASA’s Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) for space shuttle Endeavour’s final flight this month.
The SCA, a uniquely configured Boeing 747-100aircraft, transported Endeavour from Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, Fla., to its new home at the California Science Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
DI’s maintenance team, in cooperation with NASA and other support contractors, traveled with the aircraft for the duration of the flight, which included stops in Houston and El Paso, Texas. DI mechanics carefully inspected, serviced, and performed maintenance to the SCA as needed.
“The DI team has been continuously preparing and coordinating with our customer to ensure a successful final flight for the space shuttle Endeavour,” says Jim Myles, group vice president, Aviation, DynCorp International.
DynCorp International won a NASA contract to provide aircraft maintenance and operational support services at various locations in April 2012.
