ALISO VIEJO, Calif., 25 June 2014. Microsemi Corp. in Aliso Viejo, Calif., is introducing 16 monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) products spanning DC to 40 GHz for defense, aerospace, communications, and instrumentation applications.

Microsemi's military MMIC products are for electronic warfare (EW), signals intelligence (SIGINT), and military communications. The Microsemi MMICs include wideband and low noise amplifiers and switches.

Microsemi is developing these RF and microwave products using established gallium arsenide (GaAs) and emerging gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technologies.

Microsemi's new MMIC products include the MMA001AA DC-20 GHz wideband amplifier has positive gain slope with over 17 dB gain at 20 GHz; the MMS002AA single-pole, double-throw switch with 45 dB of isolation from DC-20 GHz; and the MMA016AA DC-to-15 GHz amplifier with a power-selectable feature to adjust power consumption based on the application.

The market for GaAs MMICs in Microsemi's targeted markets such as defense and communications will be approximately $500 million by 2015, predict analysts at ABI Research in New York. The market for GaN MMICs, meanwhile, should reach $100 million by 2018, analysts say.
