Avionics system safety analysis and DO-254 certification highlight technology workshops at Avionics USA 2009
SAN DIEGO, 15 April 2009.Avionics hardware certification and safety analysis are among the technology workshops offered at Avionics USA conference and exhibition. The event will be held June 1 and 2 at the San Diego Convention Center.
The conference theme is "Driving Innovation and Managing Change," and content will touch on how designers and system integrators are handling the challenges of next-generation systems and standards for commercial and military avionics.
All the Avionics USA workshops will be held on June 1, starting with "Avoiding the Top Ten Mistakes of Avionics Development," presented by Vance Hilderman, president of HighRely from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. Closing out the morning will be a workshop on "DO-254 Trends and Changes in Avionics Certification," presented by Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing from 11:am to 12:00 pm.
Leading off the afternoon workshops from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm is Tony Baghai, of HighRely, with a session on "Avionics System Safety Analysis." The last workshop of the conference from 3:#0 pm to 4:30 pm is Applying Java to Secure MILS Software Systems," presented by Kelvin Nilsen, Chief Technology Officer, for Aonix.
Session topics include air traffic management, runway incursion, electronic flight bags, layered information assurance for avionics systems, certification and standards for future avionics systems, avionics components standards, cost benefit analysis of implementing performance-based navigation, avionics upgrades, obsolescence, and more.

Avionics USA is the first global expansion of the successful Avionics conference and exposition, most recently held last week in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Avionics U.S.A. will be co-located with the Military & Aerospace Electronics Forum. Both shows will share an exhibit floor, but have two separate conferences.
