GENEVA, Switzerland, 18 May 2009.Boeing selected Esterline CMC Electronics' new 10.4 inch Class 2 PilotView Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) for the Next-Generation B-737s and BBJs. The Class 2 EFB system will be available on production aircraft and for retrofit.

CMC Electronics made the announcement at the European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (EBACE) held in Geneva last week.

Boeing is developing a common application suite and ground infrastructure for use across Class 1, 2, and 3 EFBs which is designed to maximize the value of the EFB infrastructure by including Boeing and Jeppesen applications and data, CMC Electronics officials say.

"Boeing's EFB solution is fully integrated, allowing customers the flexibility they need," says Robert Manelski, director of crew information services, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "The EFB contains all documentation and forms that pilots carry, from aeronautical maps and charts, manuals, fault reporting, and operations to minimum equipment lists and logbooks, in digital format, and puts them at the crew's fingertips. The Boeing system provides an integrated solution from the aircraft to the airline's back-office and offers value through improved operational efficiencies"

CMC's PilotView EFB stays powered during all flight phases, thereby improving productivity and reducing workload. It features an LED-backlit display delivering enhanced readability in all ambient lighting conditions. The compact and self contained display-processor offers all of the latest processing capabilities available within the PilotView product line.
