CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, 10 June 2009.Rockwell Collins introduced a next-generation simulation architecture that leverages advanced avionics technology and a modular design to maximize life cycle value and enhance training effectiveness across military and civil training platforms.

Designed from the user and maintainer's point of view, the advanced CORE simulation architecture features common open reusable elements including scalable software adaptable for multiple training devices, integrated tool sets and Rockwell Collins' avionics display and image generation technology.

"This next generation architecture is a result of strategic acquisitions and organic investment we've made in simulation and training and represents a natural evolution of Rockwell Collins' capabilities," says Ken Schreder, vice president and general manager, Simulation and Training Solutions for Rockwell Collins. "

A highlight of the CORE simulation architecture is a configurable tool suite that provides the freedom to easily customize training for multiple situations. Other features include:

- a hardware and software design that accommodates upgrades and new technology insertions through open systems architecture;
- integrated visual and display technology that offers realism; and
- a scalable, modular design spread across a broad range of training devices, enabling proactive obsolescence management and integration of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology.

CTC Aviation Group plc will be the first CORE simulation architecture customer, which will be featured on two full-flight simulators to be delivered to the United Kingdom-based training center beginning in late summer.

"CTC Aviation's commitment to working alongside airlines to provide flexible training experiences, and the flexible and adaptable nature of our CORE simulation architecture are an ideal match," Schreder says.
