ORLANDO, Fla., 21 Oct. 2009. Honeywell (NYSE: HON) in Phoenix announced that it is flying new EASy II avionics on Dassault F900EX business jets, which include SmartView synthetic vision for improved situational awareness and Required Navigation Performance -- Approval Required (RNP-AR) for more efficient routing. Certification is expected in the second quarter of 2010.

In addition to SmartView and RNP-AR, the new Dassault EASy II flight deck configuration features:
- wide area augmentation aystem - localizer performance with vertical guidance (WAAS-LPV);
- SmartRunway;
- ADS-B out transponder;
- XM Graphical Weather;
- Automatic Descent Mode (ADM);
- take off, go around improvements; and
- paperless charts.

"Honeywell continues its leadership in integrated avionics with unsurpassed capability for EASy operators, providing them with enhanced situational awareness and safety, greater fuel savings and better aircraft efficiency," says Rob Wilson, president, Honeywell Business & General Aviation. "EASy II gives Falcon operators the capability to fly globally and fit into any worldwide flight environment, current or future, whether they are in Europe, Asia, or the United States."

The EASy II features and system improvements will be released on all three Falcon platforms, starting with the F900 series in the second quarter of 2010. In 2011, FANS-1/A will be added to the F900 and the fully featured EASy II package (including FANS-1/A) will be certified on the F7X and the F2000 series. EASy II will be available on new production aircraft and, for the operating fleet, through retrofit.

The Dassault SmartView synthetic vision software is designed to integrate into the EASy cockpit featuring Primus Epic architecture. EASy II is the second application of the SmartView family.

"Primus Epic cockpits have accumulated more than four million hours of operation on platforms around the world, and are designed to accommodate continuing avionics upgrades," says Victor Valente, vice president, OEM Business & General Aviation for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. "Falcon operators will find that when they choose to upgrade, the new features and system improvements offered in EASy II will bring the F900EX and the other Falcons to a leadership position in aircraft capability. These capabilities are uniquely available through Dassault and Honeywell, as no other avionics manufacturer offers this capability today."

Honeywell's SmartView improves the Primary Flight Display (PFD) by fusing terrain data and advanced symbology, including features like Flight Path Marker, which are typically found on a HUD. SmartView simplifies the control of the aircraft, prevents loss of control accidents and runway excursions, while improving pilot awareness of surroundings on the airport surface, thus reducing runway incursions as well. The terrain is generated from Honeywell's Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) terrain database using high-performance graphics generation system. Honeywell's EGPWS database has an unprecedented record of proven operation with nearly 600 million hours on commercial air transport, business jets and helicopters. The terrain database for SmartView has DO-200A certification from the FAA, the only terrain database in the industry to carry this designation.

RNP AR or RNP SAAAR procedures help aircraft access airports at weather minima lower than many other types of approaches and fly more precise approaches and departures, increasing operational efficiency and reducing operating costs, noise and emissions. Operators will be able to gain RNP-AR/SAAAR approval quickly and easily using Honeywell's Go Direct Services. Go Direct Services has initiated the most approvals for RNP-AR/SAAAR business aircraft operators of any designated RNP consultant in the industry. WAAS provides vertical guidance during LPV approaches, increasing navigation accuracy and availability. These new avionics capabilities are designed to accommodate the planned features of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NGATS) and Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) programs.

SmartRunway helps break the chain of events that can lead to a runway incursion by providing timely advisories – aural and/or visual – to the flight crew on the aircraft position compared to runway locations in the database.

Automatic Descent Mode is a new safety feature that gives peace of mind for Falcon jets operating at high altitudes by automatically activating the autopilot in the event of cabin depressurization at high altitudes, safeguarding the incapacitated crew and guiding the aircraft to a safe altitude.

Paperless terminal charts and maps round up the features packed in the EASy II avionics upgrade, allowing the crew to leave paper charts at home, while enjoying an unprecedented redundancy that far exceeds industry standards.
