EVERETT, Wash., 23 Oct. 2009. VPT Inc. in Everett, Wash., is introducing the commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) VPT100+ 2800 DC-DC converter module for with as much as 100 Watts of output power per unit for avionics and other high-power electronics systems.

The avionics power device offers parallel operation of as many as five units, and has a wide input voltage range that accommodates MIL-STD-704 input power requirements for high-reliability applications.

The quarter brick VPT100+ power converter offers efficiency as high as 91 percent; single outputs of 3.3, 5 7, 12, 15, and 28 volts; dual output versions of +/-12 and +/-15 volts; an input voltage range of 16 to 40 volts per MIL-STD-704; manufacturing to J-STD-001, ISO9001 and IPC-A-610; operation from -55 to 100 Celsius; output voltage trim up +10 percent or down -20 percent; six-sided metal cases; magnetic feedback; undervoltage lockout; indefinite short circuit protection; and current limit protection.

Environmental screening includes a 96 hour burn-in, 100 percent electrical testing, and temperature cycling testing. The device meets MIL-STD-461C/D/E conducted emissions requirements when used with a VPTF series EMI filter.
