SUNDSVALL, Sweden, 26 Jan. 2010 navAero's t-Bag C22electronic flight bag (EFB) system received an EASA Supplementary Type Certificate (STC) for Airbus A318, A319, A320, and A321 series aircraft.

The deployed architecture consists of cross-connected dual t-Bag C22EFB systems with the t-Pad series displays. The systems also feature navAero-designed, UMTS/HSDPA – 3G cellular modem for on-ground data transfer, WiFi, and ARINC 429 connectivity to onboard systems.

The certified solution enables operators to utilize data from onboard systems to auto populate data for third party charting and maintenance applications as well as initiate on ground message and data transfers as required for paperless operation.

"This achievement shows that our t-Bag C22 Electronic Flight Bag system meets all the European regulatory requirements to be a highly integrated part of a modern airline, providing end-to-end connectivity from aircraft to operations," says Knut Aabo, executive vice president sales and marketing at navAero.

The certification and engineering activities are performed in cooperation with Scandinavian Avionics A/S. Installations are currently in progress and installation kits are available for delivery.

"We are very happy to provide our European Airbus 318/319/320/321 customers with a cost reducing, environmental friendly and safety enhancing state-of-the art EFB platform," Aabo says.

Scandinavian Avionics has a full EASA Part-21 Design approval as well as EASA and FAA Part -145 Maintenance approval.
