SUNDSVALL, Sweden 23 Feb. 2010. navAero announced today that its t-Bag C22 electronic flight bag (EFB) system has been awarded an EASA Supplementary Type Certificate for the Embraer E135BJ "Legacy."

STC Number 10027700 was granted to navAero partner ABS Jets through Aero Vodochody, a Prague-based DOA that is part of an on-going strategic relationship between navAero and ABS Jets, an executive jets operator based in Prague.

ABS Jets selected the navAero EFB for their avionics upgrade plan, and is one of the first European business jet operators to implement EFB technology for increased reliability and enhanced situational awareness, navAero officials say. The implementation of a Class 2 EFB platform gives operators the ability to utilize software applications to better manage the aircraft's operational performance as well as providing a way to implement enhanced situational awareness tools.

The navAero EFB system will also be used by ABS Jets as a document viewer as an alternative to carrying the paper manuals that are required for each flight operation. ABS Jets has also started to use airport moving map capability with own-ship position shown.

"We selected navAero as the right partner for our EFB project because of their quality and reliability, and the state-of-the-art technology of their EFB system which will allow us to realize a multiplicity of enhancements in our flight operations, says Daniel Holda, technical director of ABS Jets.

"Applications like charting and airport moving map enhance our safety-of-flight operations," Holda continues. "In the future, the deployment of the wireless capability will create an extremely independent way for us to have on-the-ground connectivity that is separate and apart from the airport infrastructure. This connectivity will give our pilots a way to perform their briefings and pre-flight tasks from right from the cockpit. And it will also give our crews the additional capability of being able to implement last minute changes…all without leaving the flight deck."

ABS Jets and navAero can provide a complete package of service for the E135 aircraft, including the EFB installation performed by the MRO division of ABS Jets in Prague.
