SAN JOSE, Calif., 27 April 2010. April 27, 2010 –— Kongsberg Defence Systems Green Hills Software, Inc., announced that has selected the INTEGRITY real-time-operating system (RTOS) and MULTI integrated development environment from Green Hills Software in Santa Barbara Calif., for the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) program. The JSM is mounted externally or internally in the bomb bay of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Green Hills Software officials made the announcement at the Embedded Systems Conference , being held this week in San Jose, Calif.

Kongsberg will use the INTEGRITY RTOS in multiple, multicore computers on the JSM, which is being developed initially for the Royal Norwegian air force. It is intended for anti-surface warfare and naval fire support missions over sea and land. In parallel, the Green Hills Software products will be used in the telemetric, safety launch, and planning software for JSM. The work will also use the Green Hills Probe advanced hardware debugger and networking middleware.

"INTEGRITY's pedigree within aerospace and defense applications, and history of delivering functional safety-related BSPs, made it the leading contender for the JSM," says Harald Annestad, president of Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace. "We wanted a proven, reliable RTOS with a rich ecosystem of development tools and support for our chosen Freescale Power Architecture processor. Having conducted a detailed technical evaluation, we concluded that the Green Hills debugging technology is our choice. Green Hills Software provided a solution that enabled us to embark on a long term project with confidence."

"Our EMEA Engineering Centre in the Netherlands will be developing board support packages and working closely with the Kongsberg team to ensure all requirements are satisfied," says Christopher Smith, vice president of marketing for Green Hills Software.
