Officials at AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, named Aerosouz to be an authorized service center in Russia for the AgustaWestland range of light commercial helicopters. The service center, based close to the Moscow ring, will provide maintenance and repair services for avionics systems and other helicopter systems as well as maintaining a spare parts inventory for the AgustaWestland helicopters.Additional service centers will follow in other locations where AgustaWestland's helicopters are operating in Russia, allowing the delivery of local support and to enable customers to maximize the operational effectiveness of their aircraft. Nearly 20 new generation helicopters from the entire AgustaWestland commercial range have already been sold in Russia and the company sees further business opportunities in the country across its product range for a number of roles including corporate transport, emergency medical service/search and rescue, and offshore transport, company officials say. Established in 2002, Aerosouz provides light commercial helicopter operations, sales, support, and training services in Russia. Commercial helicopters are a growth area in Russia, Agusta Westland officials say.
