Avionics USA starts this Thursday in San Diego; FedEx approach to NextGen kicks off the conference

SAN DIEGO, 1 June 2010. The 2010 Avionics USA conference and exhibition is beign held this Thursday and Friday this week -- June 3 – 4, 2010 -- at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego.

The 2010 Avionics USA conference and exhibition is being held this Thursday and Friday -- June 3 – 4, 2010 -- at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego. The keynote speaker is Steve Vail, senior advisor for FedEx Global Air Traffic Operations. He will discuss FedEx's approach to the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) and next generation avionics. There will also be a panel discussion on "How to Add New Avionics to Airplanes in a Downturn Economy." Panelists include: Capt. Brian Will, director airspace modernization and advanced technologies, American Airlines; Chad Cundiff, vice president of crew interface products at Honeywell Aerospace; Joel Otto, senior director, commercial systems marketing for Rockwell Collins; and Rudy Bracho, senior manager of business development, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.Online registration is closed, but attendees can still register on site on Thursday and Friday.Other session topics include: NextGen Air Traffic Management (ATM): Reality, Concept, Methodologies; Air Traffic Management Integration & Regulatory Issues;; Performance-Based Operations; Military Avionics Systems and NextGen; and NextGen Safety Technology, Moving Maps, Terrain Warning Systems, and electronic flight bags (EFBs). The conference is co-located with the Military & Aerospace Electronics Forum. The events have separate conference tracks but share the exhibit floor.
