Posted by John McHale ATLANTA, 19 Oct. 2010. Speakers during the opening session of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) show argued that business aviation contributes to the economy while helping companies more effectively conduct business. Tom Donahue, U.S. Chamber of Commerce president, said the government is wrong to view business aviation as an unnecessary luxury and that it is an important part of the economy. Like other parts of the private sector and unlike the federal government it can effectivelycreate jobs, he added. Jimmy Hayes, chief executive officer of Cox Communications in Atlanta said that Congress should not fault business leaders for flying their own planes while conducting business, however these same leaders need to do a better job of explaining how their business jets enable them to havea more effective organizations. Business aviation is an enabling tool for corporations whether to visit remote locations or to better connect management with their employees.Hayes said that one of his workers wrote him that having a company aircraft available has reduced "the wear and tear" of commercial air travel. That convenience cuts down on the wear and tear of the employee as well, making him more effiecent in the long run, he added.
