StarPortUSA completed an avionics upgrade on a Gulfstream IV-SP aircraft that included a Rockwell Collins Airshow 4000 upgrade, Aircell Highspeed Internet System, fight display camera system, and an upgrade to an 880 Radar and ASC 469. The entire project was completed in a quick, ten-week time span."We had a short amount of time to perform the avionics installations and refurbishment before prepping and sanding for paint," says Lamar Creamer, StarPort's director of sales. "The most challenging aspect of this job was getting the interior removed and completing the ASC 469 before the aircraft entered the paint shop. While at the StarPort facility, several avionics upgrades and installations were performed on the aircraft. The project included the installation of an Aircell Access two-channel Iridium SATCOM with datalink communications to the airborne flight information system (AFIS). In addition, a high-speed Internet system was installed through Ethernet jacks that allow for connectivity to broadband speed Internet throughout the aircraft. StarPort is presently working with AirCell on a Standard Type Certification to provide wireless connectivity in this series aircraft. Also installed in the aircraft was a Rockwell Collins Airshow 4000 with network, a Honeywell AFIS and flight display, along with a 20-inch bulkhead monitor. In addition, a flight display entertainment system with CD, DVD, and MP3 capabilities was also installed in the aircraft, and a flight display cockpit camera was installed for security. StarPortUSA is based out of the Orlando-Sanford International Airport.
