Posted by John McHale EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 6 Jan. 2011. Teledyne Controls announced today that Thales Avionics, SA has signed a reseller agreement, whereby Thales will provide Teledyne's Wireless GroundLink Quick Access Recorder (WQAR) to existing EQAR (Extended storage Quick Access Recorder) customers. This agreement is the first initiative between the two companies who plan on extending their cooperation to a larger range of products and services. Teledyne Controls' WQAR is designed to eliminate the need for manual data collection and distribution operations. The raw data recorded during flight is compressed, encrypted, and then transmitted via cellular technology and the Internet to the airline's or Teledyne's ground-based data center for processing and analysis. With the WQAR solution, Thales' customers will be able to streamline their flight data retrieval process and significantly reduce data delivery delays since the data is typically available within minutes after an aircraft has parked at the gate, versus several days or weeks with manual data retrieval methods. Selected by 90 operators worldwide, Teledyne's WQAR has been certified on numerous aircraft types. It is available factory fit from Boeing on the B777 and B737NG aircraft; Airbus on the A320 family, A330, A340 and A380 aircraft types; and Embraer on the ERJ190/195 family.
