(NYSE: SRX), in Fairfax, Va., to deploy a multilateration and automatic dependent surveillance - broadcast (ADS-B) surveillance solution at the Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport. The Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport, scheduled to open in 2012, will become the German capital's primary commercial airport and will serve its roughly 3.4 million residents. Era's next-generation surveillance system will be integrated into the airport's advanced-surface movement guidance and control system. "MSS by Era provides high accuracy, coverage and reliability -- and does so with extremely low acquisition and maintenance costs. This makes it the ideal surveillance solution for both new and existing airports," says Kevin Layton, Era Systems Corp. senior vice president. MSS by Era is a scalable solution, enabling surveillance of all areas of an airport's surface. This flexibility also allows airports to quickly address surveillance needs brought about by increased demand or airport structural changes, Era officials say.
