The announcement was made this week at the Aircraft Interiors show in Hamburg, Germany.Avionics selected by Shandong Airlines include Rockwell Collins' WXR-2100 MultiScan Threat Detection System, GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver, ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-900 Distance Measuring Equipment, HFS-900D High Speed Data Radio, LRA-2100 Low-range Radio Altimeter, VHF-2100 Very High Frequency Transceiver, VOR-900 VHF Omnidirectional Radio, Passenger Address Unit (PAU), TTR-2100 Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), and Communications Management Unit (CMU-900).The second generation of dPAVES provides passengers a more diverse range of information and entertainment content than previous offerings in an overhead video console. The airline will realize a reduction in volume, weight, and power, and reduced maintenance costs when compared to analog systems. Shandong is the first airline in China to select Rockwell Collins' Head-Up Guidance System (HGS). The airline was recently approved for lower landing minima using HGS for Category I (CAT I) airports in China by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). The HGS collects, evaluates and displays critical flight data (attitude, airspeed, altitude, and navigational aid) at eye level in real time, reducing the need for pilots to view their head-down instruments during critical stages of flightDeliveries will begin later this year and continue through 2013.
