MONTREAL, 7 June 2011. Transport Canada officials granted certification to Bombardier Aerospace for the company's Global Vision flight deck, which has synthetic vision technology.
Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Bombardier Aerospace will be certifying synthetic vision technology on a head-up display (HUD) in the Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics system on Bombardier's Global Vision flight deck.
Bombardier officials say they expect the Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency will certify the system later this year. The Global Vision flight deck is scheduled to be in service next year and will be integrated on the Global 5000 and Global 6000 business jets.
The Pro Line Fusion avionics suite has four high-resolution 15-inch diagonal active matrix liquid crystal displays (LCDs) configured in a T-shape working together with the Head-up Guidance System (HGS). It also has an electronic checklist, personalized formats of display information, an integrated cursor control panel, maps with graphical flight planning, paperless operation with Dual Electronics Charts, Controller-Pilot Datalink Communication (CPDLC), a Future Air Navigation System (FANS), a MultiScan Weather Detection system, a Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), and Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV).
