Officials at ANA (All Nippon Airways) and Boeing (NYSE: BA) announced that pilot training for the ANA crews that will fy the airline's first 787 Dreamliner were completed in Seattle.Ten ANA pilots trained in the 787 test aircraft, called ZA001. The crew that participated in this training are check airmen and senior training pilots from ANA that are going through simulator and aircraft line training in Japan. Each ANA pilot made approaches at Grant County International Airport in Moses Lake, Wash.Other actions included an instrument landing system (ILS) precision approach as well as two visual approach patterns for each pilot, with touch-and-go landings. The ANA pilots took turns in the captain's seat on the left while a Boeing instructor took the right seat. Each flight was prefaced by the pilots having training sessions in the 787 full-flight simulator. The flights, part of mandated training, also provided further validation that the 787 simulators and overall Boeing training program accurately replicate the feel and operation of the 787 airplane. All of the ANA pilots got a qualification check from the Japan Civil Aviation Board (JCAB) and are now qualified to pilot the 787 under this Japanese regulatory authority.
