Officials at EVA Airways out of Taiwan chose the enhanced Airshow 4200D 3D Moving Map system from Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 36 of its aircraft fleet, including three new Airbus A330s -- scheduled for first delivery later this year -- and its fleet of 33 Airbus A330-200, Boeing 777-300ER, and Boeing 747-400 aircraft. The Airshow 4200D 3D system has a new graphical design that uses NASA's Blue Marble map data, which is based on actual satellite imagery, to provide passengers with a modernized view of real-time flight data. Other new features include: a new global map package that provides improvements in detail and worldwide coverage; new time and flight status displays; 3D maps with realistic day and night views; and a new head-up display that gives pilot's-eye view of the flight.Airlines also can customize content throughout the Airshow 4200D system such as on-screen aircraft livery, promotional videos, passenger greetings, and safety briefings. Route-specific content can be pre-programmed as well due to hands-free dynamic scripting.
