EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y., 2 July 2011. Officials at Saab AB announced they have a definitive agreement to acquire Sensis Corp. out of Syracuse, N.Y., for about $155 million. Sensis is a provider of air traffic management (ATM) and surveillance technologies such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) systems.
Sensis will continue to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Saab Group. The transaction is expected to be concluded in the third quarter of 2011.
"The coupling of Sensis' and Saab's air traffic management and civil security portfolios will provide a new level of ATM solutions," says Jud Gostin, chairman, president, and chief executive officer at Sensis.
Sensis has a workforce of about 600 employees and had estimated revenues are about $130 million for the fiscal year ending June 2011.
The transaction is pending approval from, among others, competition authorities in the U.S. and is expected to be concluded in the third quarter of 2011.
The two companies worked together in the past on the U.S. Navy's Littoral Combat Ship program.
