Officials at Avidyne Corp. say that they are providing the DFC90 Digital Flight Control System for Entegra-equipped Piper PA-46 Matrix and Mirage aircraft. New features include: improved stability through attitude data to control the autopilot inner control loops; Indicated Airspeed Hold (IAS) vertical mode, which includes a dedicated airspeed knob and a new airspeed bug on the primary flight display, and provides a more elegant way to make flight level changes; and flight envelope protection and alerting, which helps cut down on autopilot-induced stalls -- underspeed and overspeed. The DFC90 also is certified for Cirrus SR20 and SR22, with plans to interface the DFC90 with the Aspen EFD1000 series integrated flight displays. Initial certification expected later this year.Avidyne's certification is nearing completion for later this year for both the DFC90 in Entegra-equipped aircraft, and the DFC100 for Entegra Release 9-equipped aircraft, company officials say. The DFC90 is an attitude-based digital autopilot system designed to replace the S-TEC55X autopilot.
