Korea's CN-235 maritime patrol aircraft flying with new avionics system from by Universal Avionics

TUCSON, Ariz., 19 July 2011. Pilots of the Korea coast guard (KCG) are using two CN-235-110 maritime patrol aircraft (MPA), which are equipped with new avionics systems from Universal Avionics in Tucson, Ariz.. The flight deck has a three-panel suite of large-format EFI-890R flat panel displays, dual Vision-1 synthetic vision systems, UNS-1Lw Multi-Mission Management System (MMMS), and a terrain awareness warning system (TAWS).

KCG officials ordered four CN-235 aircraft for maritime patrol operations, with the remaining two scheduled for delivery later this summer.The CN-235-110 MPA is built and outfitted at the state-owned PT Dirgantara Indonesia (formerly known as IPTN) in a maritime patrol configuration modified from the CN-235-110. The aircraft also has advanced radar detection and thermal imaging systems and is used mostly for VIP transport, airlifts, maritime patrols, and troop carrying.
