NEUILLY-SUR-SEINE, France, 23 Aug. 2011. China International Airlines Co. (Air China) in Beijing has equipped its first 15 long-range Boeing 777-300ER twin-engine jumbo passenger jets to enter revenue service with the Thales In-Flight Entertainment System from Thales Group in Neuilly-Sur-Seine, France installed in every seat, Thales officials say.The Thales TopSeries in-flight entertainment system, which has 23-, 15.4-, and 8.9-inch will enable passengers to access a wide range of audio and video on-demand entertainment and information using 23-, 15.4- and 8.9-inch touch screen displays. Air China 777 passenger jets seat 311 passengers in an eight-seat first-class section, 42-seat business-class section, and a 261-seat economy section. The Thales in-flight entertainment systems aboard have tethered passenger control units in first- and business-class seats.Air China is the first to fly with the Thales 3D moving map powered by Geofusion -- an interactive 3D moving map developed by Thales in partnership with GeoFusion Inc. in Santa Cruz, Calif., Thales officials say. The application helps passengers track the aircraft's progress on a high-resolution 3D globe represented by satellite imagery from taxi, takeoff, flight, and landing.
