The U.S. Air Force (USAF) officials have selected Panasonic Toughbook mobile computers from Panasonic Solutions Company (PSC) for its rugged mobile computing requirements, including flightline, maintenance, mission, and support activities. Panasonic Toughbook 31 rugged notebooks and Toughbook 19 rugged convertible tablets purchased as part of the Air Force Quantum Enterprise Buy (QEB) program will be delivered by Intelligent Decisions, a systems integrator servicing the Federal government.

The Air Force Information Technology Commodity Council (AFITCC), which includes senior Air Force officials, evaluated vendor solutions for quality, performance, price, and compatibility with the Air Force’s strict security requirements.
Both mobile computers will be included in the QEB program effective immediately and ending Dec. 31, 2011.

“This QEB award reinforces our mutual commitment to delivering to our military the highest standards in durable and reliable mobile technology for demanding battlefield situations,” says Jan Ruderman, vice president, government sector, Panasonic Solutions Company.

The Toughbook 31 and Toughbook 19 feature rugged, all-weather design, daylight-readable touchscreens, built-in handles, and wireless connectivity, making them well suited for aviation applications, including battlefield monitoring, mission planning, flightline maintenance, and temporary duty assignments.
