Boeing opens interiors fabrication facility to supply 787 interior components, such as video control stations, attendant modules

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C., 2 Dec. 2011. Boeing [NYSE:BA] has opened a new Interiors Fabrication facility in North Charleston, S.C., charged with manufacturing Boeing 787 interior parts for Boeing South Carolina. Among the interior components are: video control stations and attendant modules, stowbins and closets, partitions and class dividers, floor-mounted stowbins used by flight attendants, and overhead rests for flight-crews and flight attendants.

Boeing [NYSE:BA] has opened a new Interiors Fabrication facility in North Charleston, S.C., charged with manufacturing Boeing 787 interior parts for Boeing South Carolina. Among the interior components are: video control stations and attendant modules, stowbins and closets, partitions and class dividers, floor-mounted stowbins used by flight attendants, and overhead rests for flight-crews and flight attendants.

"We look forward to delivering our first set of interior components to Boeing South Carolina in 2012," says Lane Ballard, director, Boeing Interiors Responsibility Center South Carolina.

The 300,000 square-foot (27,871 square-meter) facility boasts state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, as well as use of the latest Lean processes and tools to produce interior components at the same rate as 787 production at Boeing South Carolina.
