Airline employment increases by 20,000 year over year

WASHINGTON, 12 Dec. 2011. Total U.S. airline employment numbers have increased by 20,000 year over year, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ (BTS) October 2011 full-time and part-time airline employment data. BTS is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA).

Total employment (full-time + part-time) by all U.S. airlines including scheduled passenger, charter, and cargo:

Airlines that operate at least one aircraft with the capacity to carry combined passengers, cargo, and fuel of 18,000 pounds report monthly employment statistics.
