MONTREAL, 1 April 2012. Executives at business aircraft specialist AVWest in Perth, Australia, are ordering five ultra-long-range Global 6000 business jets from Bombardier Aerospace in Montreal for long-haul business jet service. The order for the Global 6000 jets with the Bombardier Vision flight deck is worth $292.5 million.
AVWest is an Australian corporate jet operator and also owns and operates the Perth Jet Centre that provides all types of business fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, as well fixed-based operator (FBO) and VIP services.
AVWest operates a fleet that includes a large-cabin Challenger 604 and three Global Express XRS jets. In June 2011, Bombardier confirmed that AVWest placed firm orders for four Global 7000 and two Global 8000 jets.
“The Global 6000 jet is today’s perfect solution to connecting key long range city pairs non-stop.” says Tim Roberts, principal of AVWest. “In addition, the Vision Flight Deck and the overall commonality with the forthcoming Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft make it the obvious choice for AVWest.”
The Global 6000 jet is 100 feet long, has a 94-foot wingspan, and seats eight to 19 passengers, as well as a crew of two to four. The aircraft has a range of 6,000 nautical miles and cruises at 564 miles per hour. It has two Rolls-Royce Deutschland BR710A2-20 turbofan engines.
The Global 6000 has a maximum altitude of 51,000 feet, can take off on runways as short as 6,500 feet, and can land in 2,670 feet. Its typical cruise altitude is 41,000 to 45,000 feet.
The aircraft has a Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite, four 15.1-inch liquid crystal display, head-up display, third-generation enhanced vision system and synthetic vision system, onboard maintenance system, diagnostic and troubleshooting tool, datalink, Inmarsat or Iridium satellite communications, Ethernet-based cabin management, on-board local area network, and dual channel high-speed data printer.
