SINGAPORE, 15 April 2012. Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd. (ST Aerospace) in Singapore won about half a billion dollars worth of aircraft work during the first quarter of this year, ST Aerospace officials announced Friday. ST Aerospace (STEG.SI) is an independent, third-party aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) serving military forces, major airlines, and freight carriers.
The contracts, worth a total of about $540 million, were for aircraft maintenance and modification, component total support, and engine total support -- including a contract to convert 15 Boeing 757-200 single-aisle jetliners from passenger to freighter (PTF) configurations. ST Aerospace will do the work through its MRO network.
Between January and March, ST Aerospace re-delivered 90 aircraft for airframe-related maintenance and modification work. For PTF conversions, the company redelivered three Boeing 757-200 converted freighters to FedEx Express.
Besides airframe re-deliveries, ST Aerospace serviced 51 engines and 15,720 components for both commercial and military customers, company officials say.
ST Aerospace operates a purpose-built general aviation aircraft hangar, simulator center for pilot training, facilities for aviation technical training, and a VIP facility for its air charter business at Singapore’s Seletar Aerospace Park. These facilities should be finished by the end of this year.
ST Aerospace in the first quarter of 2012 also received two supplemental type certificates (STC) for Boeing 757-200 passenger-to-passenger/cargo (combi) conversion program from the European Aviation Safety Agency and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
ST Aerospace also launched a VIP aircraft completion and refurbishment brand called AERIA Luxury Interiors, as well as signed an agreement with Airbus and EADS EFW in February to develop the A330P2F conversion program.
